Hey guys,
There’s a tremendous Cabe URBAN DESIGN SUMMER SCHOOL (http://www.udss.org.uk/index.html) – just few weeks before easa and 100km away from Manchester. So whoever wants to spend a very architectural/urbanistical summer, it’s a way forward!
I know from last years’ schools, it’s been a great success – loads of design workshops with professionals from different areas and great inspiring speakers.
Give me a shout if you are around and hope to see you in Birmingham!

Beloved NCs,
As you know the workshops for easa010 were announced yesterday. The posters for them can be found on www.easauk.net
Now we turn our attention to participants. Attached is the application form, but before we get to that we will talk about something new for 2010. This year it is a requirement for all participants to attach an essay on the based on our theme – Identity.
At architecture school we form hundreds of ideas and opinions, this is a chance to get them down on paper. All the essays will be used in a publication produced by the easaUK team, on top of that all the entries will be read by the team and a short list will be given to an expert panel to choose the best. The winning essayists will be contacted before the assembly with details of how they will get a chance to present their paper at a very special event night during the assembly. For years workshops have been dominated by students and lectures have been dominated by professionals, at easa010 students will have the chance to stand and deliver.
requirements
an essay
theme – Identity
length – chosen by the author
topic – chosen by the author
This year in a slight change to recent years, we are making the application form available for download from today but will only be accepting applications for a two week window.
Pay attention!
19th February application available
23rd March quota announced
23rd March – 7th April applications accepted from NCs only
9th April second round open
19th April second round deadline
26th April payment deadline
That is clear.
notes:
From today you can get people to fill in applications.
We will not consider any submitted before the quota is announced on 23rd March.
We will not consider applications that lack photos or essays.
We will announce the number of extra places two days after application deadline – check your inboxs.
No payment = no admittance to easa010.
We’re excited. As organisers we are providing spaces, materials and fuel (parties), but EASA lives because of its workshops and its participants. We have workshops goooooood workshops, now we need gooooooood participants – you complete us.
If you need help, advice or inspiration check our website the blog and facebook, then e-mail us. Ask us questions or generally tell us how good its going to be!
Miss you, love you.

Hello! Is there a possibility of any previous EASA organisers sending me a list of the organisations/companies that sponsored them? I’d be really grateful for any info.
Please email details to hal@easauk.net
Thanks

So the deadline for workshops is the day after tomorrow. Unlike the film of the same name this should prove to be really good.
We’ve been working with quite a few teams putting workshop proposals together, answering questions, giving feedback – little things to hopefully make the process run a bit more smoothly.
But imagine if someone did all that work and then forgot to submit it! Disaster!
So don’t forget.
The deadline is midnight Friday, the selection will then take about a week of arguing and the successful entries will be announced on the following Friday.
We will be announcing the workshops at the preview evening of EASA: An Exhibition at easaHQ on Friday, the last night of SESAM010 MCR. We will e-mail all the applicants that night to let them know if they were or weren’t successful. We’ll then circulate the list in one of our newsletters the following week, and around that time the chosen ones will appear on our website.
I am so excited I could pop.
It’s great to see all the effort going in to putting the proposals together, so it will be a tough selection process for the UK team – which is great for easa010.
So – don’t forget to submit you proposals to:
workshops@easauk.net
If you haven’t started work on a proposal, this is your last chance for 2010. Make a big ol’ pot of black coffee, no sleep for 2 nights and bang something out the way only a student of architecture can!
We wish good luck to all the applicants, now wish the 30 or so of us luck in coming to some kind of decision(!)

Hey There Guys
We are in need of some help from all of you EASAians that are currently working in offices or have good connections with offices around Europe. We are trying to set up EASA Ireland to administer grants to recent graduates through the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme. At the moment there is no body administering these grants to recent graduates in Ireland. What we are looking for is partner organisations across Europe. This is basically any office that would like to be involved. We can offer a potential partner (a) graduate/s for consideration for unpaid/paid internship/s for (a) period/s of 12-26 weeks. At this stage all that a potential partner would be required to do is sign a letter of intent. There is absolutely no obligation to hire people on any company that signs it, it is simply an intention.
If anyone you know would be interested please contact Billy, Conor or myself as soon as possible as the deadline for potential partners is at the end of this week (Friday 5th of February). It would be great if you could put anyone onto us.
Many thanks
Neal

Hey everyone,
easa010 needs your help! We’re putting together an exhibition all about EASA, to try to show Manchester how special EASA is. If it’s as good as we hope it will be, it’ll make it much easier to get sponsorship and help of all kinds.
So far, we’ve followed the links to almost everything of EASA that is accessible online: issuu, flickr, youtube, past easa websites, and of course future easa websites. This means that we have quite a lot of material from the past four years or so.
We’re especially interested in photos, memories, name tags, etc from older pre-digital easas. Also, images/drawings of the major built workshops of the past: the Swiss bridge or Danish pavilion for example.
But this doesn’t exclude the recent past. If anyone has photos of re_pose, or the completed Loggia, we’d be interested in them.
We are also going to have part of the exhibition that is dedicated to the effect that easa has had on people over the years, so if anyone has any stories about the impact of easa on them let us know!
This list is not exclusive. We’d be grateful for anything you think is useful.
You can find out more about the exhibition and venue at easauk.net
email questions or exhibition material to tbe@easauk.net
Thank you!

Here are two reminders.
1. SESAM deadline is TODAY, so it’s you last chance to be part of it.
www.sesam010.co.uk
2. Remember our very special (not original) offer that TUTORS GO HALF PRICE TO easa010 – WOW!
3. We are talking to a lot of potential tutors all ready, working hard to help them make the most of their ideas by finding spaces and people in Manchester that could help / be of interest. So yeah, make the most of that if you want to propose a workshop too.
workshops (at) easauk (dot) net
Weather update, the snow is going (finally).
bye for now
