This is Bhabhi, who is the community leader of the
Kamgar Putala slum who we are rehousing, the project
is currently under construction, we are up to the
plinth beam, she’s sat in the office of Baandhani
which is a womans slum dwellers federation that does
micro-credit saving schemes.

this is the office doorway, being decorated for
Dassera, a festival where you worship the tools,
previously for warriors thanking their weapons for
life. At the front is Sandhya who is a social worker,
who has been at Shelter since the beginning, and
behind is Gita, the acountant, who teaches me Marathi.
They are decorating the floor with coloured salts.
They are both absolute sweethearts.

My favourite building in Kamgar Putala slum, i like
the detailing and composition of the material palette,
it’s very nice inside, very shiny, with lots of
metalware, and some beautiful framed prints of some gods.
